albino leopard gecko
Leopard Gecko variant
Care matches Leopard Gecko — see the full guide for temperature, UVB, diet and enclosure details.
What is a Albino Leopard Gecko?
Amelanistic — washed-out, pale pinkish-to-yellow coloring with reduced or absent dark markings and light-sensitive eyes. A foundational recessive trait behind many designer leopard geckos.
- Genetics
- Simple recessive — but there are THREE separate, non-compatible albino strains (Tremper, Bell and Rainwater/Las Vegas). Crossing two different strains does NOT produce albinos, so the strain must be tracked.
- Typical price
- $50–150 (single-strain visual; designer combos higher)
Albino leopard geckos are notably light-sensitive — keep UVB low (UVI 0.5–0.7 max) and provide deep shade.
Husbandry is identical to a standard Leopard Gecko — temperature, UVB, humidity, diet and enclosure are all the same. Only the appearance (and price) differs.
